About the Algabonyah Employment Program:
The Algabonyah Employment Program uses an intensive support approach intended to address factors that contribute to long term unemployment. We consider more than the individual, we look at their family, the community and the role of business to close the economic gap for the region’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
The position is responsible for increasing the proportion of Aboriginal people employed in the Goulburn Murray workforce by creating job pathways through targeted training, mentoring and work experience.
The role will work with partner organisations and businesses that have signed up to minimum Aboriginal employment targets to ensure safe, culturally competent workplaces for the growing Aboriginal workforce. It will also ensure that candidates are matched appropriately for roles.
The position is responsible for supporting jobseekers to build career aspirations, skills, knowledge, and experience to assist them compete for jobs. In addition, this position will work with local employers to understand their businesses and staffing needs, ensuring that the right job seeker is placed into sustainable work. This role also involves reporting on program outcomes and promoting the program through social and print media.
