BREAKTHROUGH YEAR FOR DCC

Dhungala Children’s Choir (DCC) began 2017 on a high celebrating a win in the Broadway World Awards.

Members took the award for best Children’s Chorus in an opera, for their performance in Sydney Opera House production of Pecan Summer by Yorta Yorta composer and soprano Deborah Cheetham. DCC have gone from strength to strength in this year most recently performing alongside music industry legends A.B Original, Dan Sultan and Paul Kelly at the 2017 ARIA Awards.

The choir has also performed on stage with Archie Roach at the Arts Centre, Melbourne for the national tour of Let Love Rule and opening of MPavilion to an audience of over 1500 people. Local audiences in Shepparton enjoyed performances by DCC this year including an appearance the Dhungala Kaiela Oration and a special Anzac Day recital at the Rumbalara Elders Facility.

Choir director Deborah Cheetham is looking forward to 2018 with DCC set to celebrate its ninth anniversary in style with concerts in Shepparton, Melbourne and the release of it first CD featuring original songs from the Dhungala Choral Connection Song Book.
